| [WHAT IS] Minoxidil
Medicine Minoxidil is used to be applied as blood pressure medicine, side effect of which was founded as hair growth. In 1988 year FDA approved Minoxidil 2% as hair loss medicine, and in 1997 admitted Minoxidil 5%.
In USA medicine was developed and sold as Phamacia & Upjohn, in Europe the name of the medicine known as Regaine. In Korea, there are number of medicine that uses ingredients of minoxidil 2% and 5%, produced in USA under name of Regaine.
- Minoxidil has effect mainly on crown and top of the head, but not on front part hair growth.
- Effect mechanism is not introduced well, however has prolonged effect on hair growth.
- Result after taking medicine doesn't appear immediately, but begins in a couple months after use.
- The higher percentage (5%) gives better effect, however result in frequent skin problems such as dry skin, keratin, itchiness, redness and others.
- Minoxidil helps to make hair thicker, but hair loses its elasticity, that can’t be fixed or avoided.
